Help students finish what they started.
Mentors are engineers, makers, and teachers, 18 and older, who volunteer to read student robotics guides before they’re published. A good review is often what turns a build that worked once into a guide someone else can follow.
Every application is read by a person. You’ll need a FlintMinds account and two-step verification, because mentors see work that isn’t public yet.
What mentors do
Review student work
Read guides and builds waiting for review, then send them back with specific feedback. An admin makes the final publishing decision.
Help run workshops
Draft a workshop or webinar you'd host. An admin checks and publishes it, and you can see who registered for it.
How mentors work with students
Most people who use FlintMinds are students, many of them young. These rules apply to every mentor, every time.
Give feedback only through FlintMinds
Every comment goes through a review on the site, where it's recorded. Don't contact students privately, here or anywhere else.
Never ask for personal details
Not a name, age, school, location, contact details, or photos of people. Students are credited by username only.
Be specific, and kind
Say what works, what to change, and why. Point to the step, the wire, or the line of code.
Keep unpublished work private
Don't copy, share, or post anything you see while reviewing.
Raise concerns with the FlintMinds team
If something in a submission worries you, report it through the contact page instead of acting on it yourself.
